Andale's New 2003 Suite of "Smart Products" Provides Vital Trading Information to eBay Buyers and Sellers Andale' s New Smart Search - A "Google-like" search for eBay leads the way to a new era of information services for buyers and sellers. Orlando, Florida, - June 26, 2003 – Andale, Inc. (app.vendio.com), the largest provider of services for online buyers and sellers on eBay, announced that it is releasing its new suite of 2003 "Smart Products" today at the eBay Live community conference in Orlando. These new products provide buyers and sellers with all the information they need to be smart about buying and selling on auction sites like eBay. Transacting on online auctions can be highly competitive for both buyers and sellers. Sellers have limited data that allows them to be smart about their selling: what is in demand, who else is selling it, where is it being sold, what price should it sell for, what margins should be expected after subtracting marketing and merchandising costs. Buyers also have little information on which to base a smart decision: what is the average price for the item, what listings are the most popular, where is the best deal. Selling and buying on online auctions without the right information is like trading stocks without knowing the price of the last trades. Andale's new suite of products are built on the company's patent pending "Market Intelligence" TM technology. This technology combines proprietary information sources with other Andale intellectual property to aggregate, organize, and analyze tens of billions of dollars in product sales that occur via eBay each year. As the exclusive provider of hit-counters on eBay - an agreement that was recently renewed for three years - Andale is the auditor of record for measuring buyer interest and traffic to 80% of all items sold on eBay. Andale combines this hit-counter information with eBay sales data and with other proprietary data sources to create the richest repository of pre and post sales information available. To make sense of this vast repository Andale has developed special software that matches items, is target specific, and shows only the most relevant items for a search. This capability is critical because unlike the stock market where the stock symbol is always written the same way, in auctions it isn't. For example, a Palm Pilot may be sold as "Palm 7" or as "Palm VII." With hundreds of thousands of different combinations for various items, Andale's underpinning technology is vital for online buyers and sellers to be able to make sense of all the trading information. With almost $20B a year being sold on eBay, based on eBay's Q1 2003 run rate, it is becoming a very competitive market. The new products being introduced at eBay Live are: Andale "Smart" Search - Google for eBay: When buyers or sellers search on eBay today, they get hundreds or thousands of results back. Andale Smart Search, with its Market Intelligence technology integration, provides relevance to this data, determining among other things what items are the most popular or least popular. Andale Research - Forecast and analyze prices for eBay items: Combining six months of historical data and special title matching, Andale Research ensures that users can see historical prices, volumes, and sell-through rates for specific items. Andale Compete - First competitive analysis product for eBay sellers: Andale Compete allows sellers to compare themselves present time to some designated time in the past, to other sellers who sell the same items, and to other sellers in the same categories. Using Andale Compete, sellers can see what their market share of a given item is on eBay, what techniques the top sellers are using, and statistically what changes they can make to increase their average selling price or success rate. Andale Sourcing - First product to help sellers find new suppliers: Today, almost $5 to $10 billion in merchandise is supplied to eBay sellers to resell on eBay. Andale Sourcing helps sellers generate qualified leads of vendors they can source from, and it provides suppliers with qualified leads of appropriate sellers who can sell their merchandise.
